Team 1:Interdisciplinary team conflict
Description
The project aims to create and design a healthcare facility targeting recently incarcerated individuals for mental health care needs. A team of six experts from various disciplines are meeting at a conference room in Toronto to discuss the capacity and budget for the facility to ensure that the facility can be opened on time. Another meeting goal was to discuss and ensure that the staff to patient ratio is adequate so the patients can receive the highest quality of care.
Although each team member is an expert in their own field and wants the best for the community, they have arguments regarding the bed capacity. During the discussion, the nurse and probationary officer want to increase the capacity of beds at the facility while the policy manager, accountant and project managers are against this idea. The conflict escalates as some team members advocate for an increase in the number of patient beds versus some team members support a lower bed capacity, which aligns with the restrictive budget. After the conflict has escalated, the team decides to take a coffee break and then regroup to de-escalate the conflict and come to a resolution. This coffee break helped the team to achieve its overall goal and come to a consensus to determine the capacity and budget of this project.
