The Open House Conflict
Description
A nurse and ECE must collaborate to create family education workshops at an elementary school open house. The nurse and ECE are unable to efficiently work together because of different perspectives on how to approach the task and are unwilling to compromise as each believes that their approach will be more beneficial for the families. With separate workshops, the nurse focuses on health promotion, while the ECE teaches families about the school and curriculum itself. During the open house, a parent approaches the ECE saying with a complaint about the nurse’ advice on children’s vaccines. The nurse starts reprimanding the parent for “putting other children at risk” and being “selfish”. The two then start arguing.
