We are at a community stakeholder meeting to discuss the creation of a new community hub in one of Toronto’s low-income neighbourhoods. The stakeholders present at the meeting include social workers from the local employment center, the local daycare’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) team, a City Urban Planner (who is a co-facilitator; attempts to mediate the conflict), the local school dietitian, a sociologist who has conducted the community needs assessment and is co-facilitating the meeting. The meeting is to identify the important key services that will be offered in this new community hub, given limited resources, not all programming can be initiated in phase 1 of the community hub’s development.
