Group 8: Conflicts in Community Services

Description

A group of friends are planning to start a small organization to support the community they belong to. They have a common goal to make a positive impact on society but have come across a few conflicts when deciding and planning the type of organization and type of services they are going to provide. Within the friend group are six individuals with different professional backgrounds. Each individual in the friend group has a profession that impacts the community in some way. As a result of this, they are often exposed to the many inequalities present in today's society. The friends are not able to come to an agreement on the type of services they will provide to the community. Each person is eager to utilize their expertise and resources in a way that will be helpful to the community. This has only escalated the conflict as it has caused arguments regarding what the best service for the community would be. Despite long discussions at each other's houses and coffee shops, the groups differing ideologies has caused tension between the six friends and delays on meeting their common goal - organizing a service that will help their community. Out of six friends, two of them want to start a public housing service that will help maintain the condition of affordable living spaces within the community, two of them are interested in Child Services, and the remaining two of them want to start a mental health and disability service, that would help decrease the stigma around mental health issues and address barriers for this population.
