Divided We Dine
Description
A group of friends is attending a Saturday night dinner. The table is surrounded by two nurses, a social worker, and a business professional. Conversation among the friends is steady as they catch up with each other after being separated for some time. As they catch up, Sierra (a nurse) asks Hetvi about her new job as a Registered Nurse in the Harm Reduction field. Conflict arises as there are differing opinions on this topic. The nurse holds a biomedical perspective on the benefits of these sites, whereas the other nurse does not agree and has personal biases that influence their views. The social worker is in support of safe injection sites and recognizes the importance of these facilities within the community. The business professional does not agree with the existence of safe injection sites and argues that they negatively impact local businesses, property values, and community safety. Conflict erupts as the two perspectives on the same topic do not align. The disagreement escalates until a mutual understanding is reached.
