The Story Behind the Behaviour

The school board has called a meeting to decide the fate of a senior student named Leo. Leo has been displaying aggressive behavior in class, disrupting classes, and not submitting his homework. Amna (Business) and Saicharaan (IT) recommend that Leo be suspended immediately, as his behaviour is impacting the overall performance data for the school. Adeliya (Psychology) reveals that Leo's aggressive behaviour stems from the fact that he and his family lost their home due to a financial crisis and are staying at a homeless shelter. This discussion has now turned into a conflict situation, and no one is listening to anyone else. Teachers feel their authority is challenged if they do not punish Leo for his behaviour. Safia (Law) strongly believes that the school handbook should be followed. Annika (Ethics) believes that punishing a child for being poor is not correct. However, the situation is saved by the Executive Director, Wendy (Leadership), who lays out some rules for the team discussion and helps them shift their focus from blaming each other for the problem to thinking together for the solution. They come up with a plan for Leo to stay at school and receive counseling.
