Steve's Dilemma
Description
Steve is an individual who had lost his parents at a very young age. This loss affected him greatly as he began lashing out his anger by joining groups that had a bad reputation in the small community he lived in. Because Steve wasn’t venting his anger the right way, he never really got over the death and thus, it became the root of his depression. He was constantly at war with himself as he began taking drugs by the pressure of those he was involved with, though he knew the effects and the laws against it.
10 years after death of his parents, at the age of 27, Steve is on a probation criteria ordering him to refrain from drugs. This individual however, violates this call as his community, dominated by drug dealers, constantly pressures him to be involved in these illegal acts, and because of his limited support group, he continues to do so. In an occasion where, under the influence of drugs, Steve begins hitting and pushing people, the police catch him. The police hear Steve’s story and decide to refer Steve to a mental health nurse instead of charging him, as they feel that this way they can eliminate the root of the problem and the problem entirely. This nurse then takes the initiative to help Steve find community programs and provide him with medication to help with his conditions. She also recommends him to a therapist to ensure that any suppressed thoughts and feelings are out and he has someone to vent his feelings to.
