Group 1 - Alzheimer's disease

Description

John is an 85-year-old widower who lives alone. He lost his wife of 60 years, Margery, six months ago to cancer. For the entirety of their married lives, Margery took care of John, helped him manage his diabetes, and was his biggest support system after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2023. John's daughter, Linda, took a temporary leave of absence from her full-time job and has been spending extended periods away from her children and husband in the months following her mother's passing to help support John with his transition. Linda needs additional help as she plans to return to full-time work and dedicate more time to her children and husband in the following weeks. The Elderbrooke Community Centre hosts a program planning meeting for their new health promotion and awareness program- Alzheimer's Disease: What you need to know. To enhance community engagement and ensure the program reflects the community's needs, the Program Director has invited a geriatrician, a nurse, a sociologist, and a social worker to share their insights on the topic. John and Linda were invited to attend the meeting and share their experiences that helped inform the new program.
