CINT905-DHB-Team 7, Where to Place a Group Home?

Description

A local mental health organization has decided to establish a group home to serve the at-risk troubled youth with their substance-abuse. They have found a property that they would like to purchase, but need support from the Municipality with a land-use designation change to allow the project to proceed. The Municipality is in favour of supporting the change. The Senior Urban Planner of the City is participating in a public meeting along with representatives of the community and the mental health organization. The conflict exists between community residents expressing concern over the safety and security of the neighbourhood, where child and youth workers and public health nurses are advocating for a place of residence for at risk youth. The solution is dependent on the negotiation techniques used between these different professions and community groups as they collaboratively work together to achieve a common ground.
