Team 2: Conflict at Rosedale Daycare: DK0-811

Description

The Rosedale Community Daycare has been servicing neighbourhood families for over fifteen years. The daycare has infant, toddler and preschooler classrooms. In recent years the daycare has changed its view of childcare to a more holistic approach. This means it is incorporating more disciplines opposed to just early childhood educators and social workers. Some of these disciplines include nursing, English and psychology. These new changes means new procedures are implemented into the daycare to accommodate to every ones needs. The daycare manager had organized a staff meeting to discuss the training program about the new documentation system that the daycare will be using. During the meeting a conflict arose between some of the members of the meeting, specifically Enakshi, Madonna, Aryan, Alexandra and Vincent. Some of the staff members felt the new professional and moving to much away from what a daycare is meant to be. Specifically, having online documentation system would not be ideal for all disciplines working for the daycare. The conflicting views on the new system resulted in five way arguments between the staff which Aryan who is the psychology student and Alexandra (nurse) agreed to have a new documentation program. This was based on the previous surveys’ results and working on the strategic plan. But other members at the meeting disagreed {Enakshi (Social Work), Madonna (Early Childhood Educator), Alexandra (Nurse) and Vincent (English)}. They are basing their argument on their experience with the documentation program. In order to come to a resolution everyone was given the opportunity to showcase their reasons to have a new documentation program or keep the old one. Afterwards everyone stated their opinion regarding the matter and negotiated. Since they had to present it to the committee they all had to come to a cohesive agreement.
