The Developing Conflict
Description
Developer Ryan Mattiussi and Steven Guerriero are currently in the process of the approval of an 80 storey condominium located at Jarvis/Front. This area is commonly known for its historical features and historically protected infrastructure. The public currently has mixed feelings on the proposal, with some being excited for the iconic development and others being fearful of what it will do to the community. GianLuca Palmieri, head developer, has informed Ryan & Steven that this proposal is extremely important to the firm and upon its completion they could both potentially earn a raise. According to GianLuca, the density must remain 80 storeys in order to gain the most profit. City Councillor’s Victor-Anthony Lazzaro and Idris Ali have publicly stated their opinions on the development, saying that the proposal’s density would not fit with the area nor could the surrounding area provide for all of the residents of the building. City Council is fearful that the increase of service needs will raise taxes for the community. They also claim the proposals “modern look” would not fit with the historic aesthetic. Steven has responded through social media saying that Victor and Idris’ claims should be “disregarded” due to the proposal's many benefits and that they “do not know what they are talking about”. Ashley Ligas is a mediator from the Ontario Municipal Board who’s known for resolving complicated development conflicts.
