Conflict and the AI Divide

When a group of TMU students from various academic fields get together for a networking dinner party, the topic of artificial intelligence (Al) comes up. Depending on their educational background and life experiences, each person has a unique perspective on Al. While some students raise concerns about AI and concentrate on ethics, employment, privacy, and creativity, others strongly support AI and argue that it improves productivity and efficiency. As the conversation goes on, participants start assuming things about each other's backgrounds and intentions. Misunderstandings that turn into conflict stem from differing communication styles, disciplinary identities, and viewpoints. The group transforms the issue rather than just putting a stop to it by moving away from discussion and toward a better knowledge of one another's perspectives through active listening, dialogue, cultural humility, and cooperative problem-solving.
