Complications During a Transfer of Accountability

Group 1: Tensions arise between the staff at Rouge Lake Hospital and staff at St. George Home for the Aged, a nearby long-term care facility, during a patient discharge taking place in the early stages of the pandemic as information regarding the patient is all over the place. Although all members of the healthcare team aim to provide the best quality of care for Amelia, a 90-year-old patient, each member of the interdisciplinary team has their own, separate priorities, overall impacting the transfer of accountability process. With the policy changes in response to the pandemic along with ever-growing emotional and physical stresses that resulted for health care workers, a smooth transfer of care becomes almost impossible.
