Rivalry in Regent Park

Description

Our movie centers on a city planner named Mehdi Tamadoni, who proposes a mixed-use 25-storey development including retails at the ground level and a residential condominium for a vacant lot in Regent Park that the City will fund. Conflict arises when community nurse Katrina Bongalon and social worker Jennifer Appiah-Kubi, two representatives from Regent Park Community Association (RPCA) expressed their concerns about the new project. The two representatives believe that a community centre will better accommodate the needs of the residents of Regent Park, which is a low-income neighbourhood that lacks the infrastructure to lead a physically active lifestyle. Our movie will focus on how bias, assumptions, self-interest, and power interconnect to the creation of conflict and the role that active listening and critical self-reflection play in conflict transformation.
