Team 2 - Domestic Violence Support
Description
The team is working on a case involving a young woman who has been a victim of domestic violence. The young woman has grown up within the foster care system and is distrusting of different people based on past experiences. She is super isolated as she does not have many friends or family members she can rely on.
The young woman has been brought into the hospital by the police officer who was called to the scene of the domestic fight. Nurses are wanting to examine her, however she is reluctant to share anything or talk about what is actually happening. The hospital social worker has been called to see the young woman about and provide ongoing counseling if she wants it. The community worker has been asked by the manager to find resources for the woman. Each person will be focusing on supporting the woman from their own lens which leads to conflict when the young woman is reluctant to be seen and is being persuaded to do so anyways. The team must find a way to integrate these perspectives into a cohesive intervention plan that caters to the young woman's needs. To address this conflict the team uses collaborative - open communication, focusing on a transformative conflict approach to support immediate safety and health needs, followed by legal supports, community supports, and ongoing mental health care.
