Unacceptable Inaccessible Kindergarten

Description

Group 4 - Purple An accident occurs harming a Junior Kindergarten student. Brody is taken to the hospital where the nurse helps in his care. Brody’s injuries were substantial and he now needs a wheelchair and care nurse. After Brody is checked out and is recovering at home, his mother (Krista), Early Childhood Educator (Emily), Learning Support Teacher (Abigail), Child Youth Care Practitioner (Robin), Nurse (Nicole), Disability Community Support and Advocate (Sara) and Urban Planner (Nusratara) meet to discuss an action plan for Brody. Brody needs to be reintegrated into his kindergarten classroom with the help from an ECE, Nurse, CYC and disability support. There is a discussion with an urban planner to resolve the conflict of the lack of accessibility that the school has. All of this concerns Krista as she just wants to know what is going to be done for her child to make as smooth of a transition as possible. Sara works with everyone to ensure Brody is being advocated for and brings the community together in form of a Fun Fair to show support and raise awareness of the importance of having accessible buildings including schools.
